These terms govern your use of Sejeli, an attendance-tracking application for university courses ("the app", "we", "us"). Sejeli is operated by Hossameldin Haridy, an individual developer based in Egypt. By creating an account or using Sejeli, you agree to these terms.
Sejeli lets instructors create courses, manage student rosters, and run verified attendance check-ins. During a session the instructor's device advertises a short-lived Bluetooth beacon; students in the room confirm they can hear it, with the device's location used as a second signal (and optionally a QR code). Students register against a course roster entry and can view their own attendance record.
Instructor accounts are created with an email and password, and are associated with a university. Student accounts are created by matching a student ID already added to a course roster by an instructor, and are bound to a single device — a student cannot register without first appearing on a roster, and switching devices later requires an instructor to reset the binding.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials (or, for students, your device) secure, and for the accuracy of information you provide.
Instructors may upload student names, ID numbers, and (optionally) email addresses to build a course roster. This data is used only to run attendance for that instructor's courses and should not be uploaded for any other purpose. Instructors are responsible for having the appropriate basis (e.g. their institution's policies) to hold this data.
Course data — rosters, sessions, and attendance records — is automatically and permanently deleted approximately one month after a course's scheduled end date, to avoid holding student data longer than necessary. Instructors receive a reminder before this happens and can export a full backup at any time before deletion.
Instructors and students select their university when registering. If a university isn't listed, anyone can submit it for review; submissions are usable immediately and are independently verified afterward. We don't guarantee the accuracy of unverified submissions.

Sejeli is free to students, and advertising is how it is paid for. The app shows advertisements to students, supplied by Google AdMob. Instructors are shown no advertisements at all.
Core functionality is never gated by an advertisement. Checking into a session, seeing your courses and viewing your attendance record are always available. A small number of optional extras — such as a student's full per-course attendance breakdown — may offer a short rewarded video; if no advertisement is available the feature is unlocked anyway rather than withheld.
All advertising is limited to the strictest content rating Google offers. Accounts belonging to anyone under 18 are treated as restricted: no personalised advertising, no remarketing, and the advertising identifier is withheld. What is collected, and what is not, is set out in section 12 of the Privacy Policy.
Sejeli stores data using a third-party managed database provider and runs on third-party hosting infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own security and privacy practices.
Advertising in the app is supplied by Google AdMob, which acts as an independent controller of the device information it receives rather than as a provider acting on our behalf. Its own privacy policy governs that data. We send it nothing from your Sejeli account and nothing from your attendance record.
Sejeli is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We aren't liable for attendance disputes, grading decisions, or other outcomes that rely on data recorded by the app. Location accuracy depends on the student's device and environment and isn't guaranteed to be perfect.
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Sejeli after a change means you accept the updated terms.
